What Will Happen At My First Lesson
The first week of your course will include Study Skills. Good Study Skills are vital to ensure you gain the best from your course. The Study Skills session will give you the opportunity to discover the best way that you can learn and fully understand the requirements of the course.
Qualification Aim/Level
Entry level through to Level 1.
Who is this course for?
This course is for young people and adults aged 19+ with learning disabilities and/or Autism.
What can I expect to Learn?
Through tailored guidance and encouragement, participants will enhance their confidence, social skills, and sense of achievement through meaningful volunteer work.
How will I learn?
Your tutor will use a number of different teaching methods to develop your skills. These will include a wide range of authentic materials, individual study, working in pairs/group activities and will include the use of video/audio.
How will I know how well I am doing?
You will have a negotiated individual learning planwhich will record your progress each week. Feedback will also be given during the lesson.
Will I need to do extra work at home?
You will be encouraged to use your news skills at home and in the community.
What will I need to provide?
Please bring paper, pen and a folder to keep your work organised.
Are there any other costs?
Money for a drink and snack at break time, or you are welcome to bring your own with you. Additional costs may be requested for some resources.
What can I do next?
You can progress on to other courses. Your tutor will advise as to which is the most suitable.
