During this pre-qualification Money and Budgeting course, you will develop skills that support progression to your next steps. You will build independent living skills and improve communication and self-confidence when managing money. Learning will take place through practical activities, project work, and interactive digital quizzes and games.

What qualification/level is this course
Pre-entry and Entry level

Who is this course for?
Young people and adults aged 19+ with learning disabilities and/or Autism who need to improve their confidence and progress into accredited courses.

What can I expect to Learn?
You will learn how to recognise coins and notes and how to handle money in real life situations. You will look at ways to help you budget your money and recognise the difference between essential and non-essential spending.

How will I learn?
Your tutor will use a number of different teaching methods to develop your skills. These will include a wide range of authentic materials, individual study, working in pairs/group activities and will include the use of video/audio. You will also have the opportunity to use online learning technologies to develop your skills.

How will I know how well I am doing?
You will follow an individual learning plan which will track your achievements.

Will I need to do extra work at home?
You are expected to make use of the skills learnt in college at home and out in the community.

What will I need to provide?
You should money for lunch or a drink and wear appropriate clothing.

Are there any other costs?
Occasional funds will be needed for outings or events.
